We collect and recycle all grades of glass. Once we have collected it, we bring it back to our MRF and each load is quality assessed and weighed on our on-site weighbridge.
The glass is tipped into bays where it is stored until a 28-tonne load is ready for transport to the glass treatment plant.
When the glass reaches the treatment
plant it is colour separated and any
contamination removed.
It can then be melted down and made
into a number of new products such as
new glass bottles, construction
materials, insulation or an additive to
aggregates.
The 28 tons of loose glass is loaded by telehandler onto a waiting articulated lorry. The vehicle will hold 28 tons of glass and we aim to maximise weight on each truck to reduce vehicle movements and carbon footprint.
